More about Huis Martha Jonker’s story:
Where it all began
Jane has been working as a Nursing sister in the Bonnievale community for more than 30 years. She has a passion for palliative care and after many years of managing the local Hospice she went on to fulfil a personal dream of a frail care facility in Bonnievale while still offering home based care in the community.
The need for a frail care facility arose in many discussions between the senior citizens of Bonnievale and Jane. One of these concerned individuals was Martha Jonker herself. Martha was one of Jane’s first Hospice volunteers and a lifelong friendship was build.
She went on to gift Jane with a beautiful property in Bonnievale and that was the beginning of Huis Martha Jonker.
This property is situated at 15 van Zyl street. Adjacent to the school sport field and across the road from the town library.
This facility has since been renovated and doubled in size. It is now a beautiful residence with 10 on-suite bedrooms, a communal entertainment area, a well equipped kitchen and a lush established garden that includes an abundant bird life and a tranquil pool.
Martha Jonker has become a well-loved resident of this home herself. She and Jane continue their friendship daily.
